Mission: Attempt to provide an
escape vehicle for crews of crippled aircraft. Initial versions were meant to
provide controlled descent, later versions were equipped with engines to allow
enhanced speed and range.
Major Accomplishments: Proved that both powered and non-powered flights were
possible from gyro-styled aircraft.

Additional Information: The X-25A and B are at the United
